It tells the story - inspired by the novel of the same name, published in 2018 by the Alicante writer Elia Barceló - of a group of women whose stable, successful lives are suddenly shattered as the human remains are found of one of their high school classmates, who disappeared during their end-of-year trip to Mallorca twenty years ago.。出生在九州福冈的长谷川町子（尾野真千子饰）自幼喜欢画画，14岁那年，她随着母亲贞子（松坂庆子饰）和姐妹们搬往东京居住。不改对漫画的热忱，町子拜入名家田河水泡（三浦友和饰）门下学习，并顺利出版了自己的首部作品。结束了弟子的修习，町子回到家中。专精西洋画的姐姐毬子（长谷川京子饰）嫁给了奔赴前线也许永远不会回来的心上人；乖乖女妹妹洋子（木村文乃饰）突然罹患疾病，卧床不起。随着战争阴影一步步地侵蚀，町子的漫画事业也受到影响。在26岁的那个海边，町子突然得到灵感，创造出日后鼓舞国人的经典形象海螺小姐。普通的，日常的，却感动人心的。 海螺小姐的诞生和长谷川町子的成长之路……。
