Following the principles of Jean Rouch’s ethnographic filmmaking and Wiseman’s immersive approach, Direct Action is a unique and hypnotic portrayal of a community...。1941年的上海，潜伏在汪伪特工总部76号的共产党员方嘉树面临暴露危险，这时候他少年时的童养媳、同为我党地下工作者的陶玉玲带着两个孩子闯入了他的生活，并为了保护方嘉树的潜伏身份与他开始了假扮一家人的潜伏生活。另一方面，方嘉树还兼有军统特工的身份，必须周旋于各种关系中。即使在如此复杂的情况下，方嘉树仍然巧妙地为我党获取了更多的情报和利益。。影片讲述的故事是，1945年８月，由于美军将要袭击日本本土，I-77潜水艇受命出击，作为最终防卫线。舰长仓本（玉木宏饰）拒绝使用人间鱼雷“回天”（一种由人操纵的自杀性鱼雷），曾经只用普通的鱼雷就击沉过数只敌舰，令美军闻风丧胆。然而，他的好友有泽舰长（堂珍嘉邦饰）的潜水艇却被身经百战的勇士，斯图尔特舰长的驱逐舰“Percival”号给击沉了。仓本心中悲愤无比，奔赴最终决战。在他心中有一份乐谱，里面凝聚着有泽的妹妹志津子的祝福……。
